I like this as a study in the evolution of backgrounds and texture of Tarantino films: from the stark blue and white cityscape of L.A. to the dusty desert of Route 66, into the city's nighttime underbelly in Jackie Brown, across the world to the impossibly dark sky of a Tokyo evening, and then back to America-- but the fertile green of Tennessee this time-- for a gentle break from all the aggression. Finally we're taken east to Germany, and who knows what skies we'll be looking at next time we find ourselves in the trunk of Tarantino's car!
